We are researching a number of options for this year’s event. We understand that the handlebar numbers were not well received. We will do our best to find a solution that will be effective for timing and identification in photographs to reserve your fantastic 6 Gap memories.
First, we want to acknowledge that last year there was an equipment malfunction that caused significant issues with several results. We are very grateful for all the assistance that each of you provided to help us sort through the information and get proper results posted. Measures have been taken to ensure that this type of error will not happen again. Again, this year you will be issued a disposable timing transponder for your use during the ride when you check-in. This will need to be mounted on your bike as instructed to get a proper time and result. Instructions will be included in your packet pick-up.
Please note:
This is a ride, NOT a race. Your overall ride start time begins when you cross the start line, not when the first person crosses the start line. If you are registered for Six Gap, but only complete the Three Gap course, your time will be recorded and posted under Six Gap; however, you will be listed as a DNF. If you need to change your “Six Gap” or “Three Gap” category, please do so at check-in/packet pick-up.
Timing is provided by a third-party company not the event itself. Official ride times will be available on the 6 Gap app and our website within 24 hours after the event. Any discrepancies in your results should be reported directly to info@6gap.com please and follow the instructions you received in your check-in packet.
The Ride will begin and end at Lumpkin County High School. The school’s main entrance will be closed – please use the side entrance off Camp Glisson Road. Overflow parking will be available at Lumpkin County Middle School on Business 19, located one mile south of the High School. We encourage riders to carpool whenever possible.
You are responsible for the care and maintenance of your bicycle. Be sure to carry all repair items you anticipate requiring.

A tradition that is mostly a Southern custom is pulling your vehicle over to the side of the road when you see a funeral procession. There is a funeral home across the street from the Six Gap start/finish line, so riders may experience this. We ask that if you come across a funeral procession, please pull your bicycle over to the side of the road until the procession passes.
NO Alcohol beverages are allowed on Lumpkin County School Properties
Do your part to prevent littering, defacement, and other forms of pollution so that others may enjoy the wonder and beauty of the North Georgia Mountains just as you have! Please place empty food wrappers in your pocket until you are able to dispose of the waste properly. There are trash bags at each rest stop.
