Rider Information

The following information is provided to ensure your safety and the safety of all participants.

New this year Breakfast will be included in your registration.  So, feel free to come grab a coffee between 6:00 am and 7:45 am.

Also new this year you can purchase insurance at registration.  This covers your entry should you not be able to attend of need to defer.  We have been incredibly flexible with this policy in the past. With the cost of many products increasing we will no longer be able to adjust registration as easily.  We have found you this amazing product that protects you from losing your entry. We will always try to accommodate all participants and feel this insurance product provides you a great service.  

A note to riders:

Six Gap Gravel Ride is a challenging event on gravel roads.  We do our best to maximize safety every mile. We all must be mindful of safety.

Secondly the amount of personal support cars is an issue.  We do not allow personal SAG on the course.  We are asking that this practice stops.  It only harms the overall safety of the event and ads to traffic congestion on the roads.  This community hosts us every year and we need to do our best to respect this amazing place.

The Six Gap Gravel Ride management reserves the right, without the refund of any portion of the entry fee, to refuse admission to or eject any person(s) whose conduct is deemed to be disorderly or who fails to comply with these or other event rules. Any violation of these rules by riders may result in removal from the event and any future events.

Registration

The Six Gap Gravel Rides takes place rain or shine. Registration will be open through the ride start but will close if the ride limit of 2,000 riders is met. Drive-up/Walk-up registrations will be taken on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 6:30 am to 7:45 am, if the ride limit of 2,500 has not been met.

Please check your medical insurance coverage. If you are seriously injured, medical transportation from the course to a medical facility is mandatory, and can easily exceed typical insurance coverage. Many places on the course could require helicopter evacuation depending on the injury.

Be sure to completely fill out your personal information on the backside of your rider number. Our medical personnel need this important information if you are transported to a medical facility.

In the past we have been very flexible on cancelation and deferment. The current economic climate does not allow us to be as accommodating. We have discovered a great product that can help you protect your entry regardless of why you need to cancel.

You may purchase registration insurance that will cover any deferment or need to cancel.

Riders who register before April 1, 2024, receive a custom Six Gap Gravel Ride T-Shirt. T-shirts will be given on a 1st come first serve basis to riders who registered after the April 5, 2024, deadline. T-shirts will only be given to preregistered riders on Saturday, April 27, 2024 and Sunday, April 28, 2024 and T-Shirts will be given on a 1st come first serve basis to riders who registered after the April 5, 2024 deadline after the ride. Riders may not pick up t-shirts for other people.

Six Gap 2024 jerseys, bibs, and shorts are available for purchase online at Pactimo. Orders will be shipped directly to your house.

There will be restrooms and showers available at Camp Frank D. Merrill. Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized frequently. You will need your own towel.

Each rest stop will have a selection of sports nutrition and fresh food. In the interest of hygiene many items will be single serving and prepackaged. We select products to maximize healthy choices and provide you all the energy needed to achieve your personal best.

Portable toilets will be available at each rest stop. Volunteers will have disinfecting atomizers available to clean portable toilets regularly.

Hand sanitizer will be available at each rest stop.

SAG support will be available for you; we have limited tools and supplies in each SAG vehicle. SAG Cars will pick you up anywhere on the course and get you to the nearest Rest Stop that has mechanical assistance or a Rest Stop where you will be provided a shuttle to the Start/Finish. It is our goal to do everything we can to help you succeed and finish your ride. However, we cannot possibly anticipate every issue that could arise.

We are researching a number of options for this year’s event. We understand that the handlebar numbers were not well received, by many of you. The biggest challenge we face is balancing the “racer” and the majority of our participants. We will do our best to find a solution that will be effective for timing and identification in photographs to reserve your fantastic Six Gap memories. It is our goal to award all participants with a quality experience year after year.

Each year, we are very grateful for all the assistance that each of you provided to help us sort through the information and get proper results posted. What we have found that when riders follow the mounting instructions there are far less issues than when riders seek minimal aerodynamic improvements. Again, this year you will be issued a disposable timing transponder for your use during the ride when you check-in. This will need to be mounted on your bike as instructed to get a proper time and result. Instructions will be included in your packet pick-up.

Please note:

This is a ride, NOT a race. Your overall ride start time begins when you cross the start line, not when the first person crosses the start line. If you are registered for 6G2/9, but only complete the 6G2/7 course, your time will be recorded and posted under Six Gap; however, you will be listed as a DNF. If you need to change your Gravel Ride “9000”, “7000” or “4000” category, please do so at check-in/packet pick-up.

Timing is provided by a third-party company, not the event itself. Official ride times will be available on the Six Gap website within 24 hours after the event. Any discrepancies in your results should be reported directly to info@6gap.com please and follow the instructions you received in your check-in packet.

The Expo will be held at the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber on Saturday. The Ride will begin and end at Camp Frank D Merrill on Sunday.

You are responsible for the care and maintenance of your bicycle. Be sure to carry all repair items you anticipate requiring. We do provide SAG support but cannot possibly anticipate every possible issue. There are some limited options for repair at the expo the day before the event.

Sunday Breakfast

Pre-ride Breakfast will be included in your registration this year. Please feel free to stop in and grab a coffee or full set up. Additional breakfast tickets will be sold at Camp Frank D Merrill from 6:00 am to 7:45 am or while supplies last. Breakfast includes a biscuit with chicken, sausage or bacon, eggs, grits or oatmeal, yogurt, a banana, and a cup of coffee.

Course Food

Single-serve items will be served at the rest stops, including an assortment of snacks, fruit, energy bars, gels, and bottled water. Course food varies at each rest stop and is based on availability and is subject to change without notice. We absolutely suggest that you always carry additional water and energy snacks.

Bag check will be available for no charge in the Camp Frank D Merrill on Sunday, April 28, 2024 beginning at 6:00 am. The bag check station will be open until 5:30 pm.

You will have five days to claim your bag or contact us about shipping your bag. Any unclaimed bags will be given to charity.

NO Alcohol beverages are allowed at Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber and Camp Frank D Merrill Properties. This is very important to follow and could cause the cancelation of the event in the future.

Do your part to prevent littering, defacement, and other forms of pollution so that others may enjoy the wonder and beauty of the North Georgia Mountains just as you have! Please place empty food wrappers in your pocket until you are able to dispose of the waste properly. There are trash bags at each rest stop.

It has also come to our attention that may participants have been avoiding using the supplied port-a-lets. We would like to remind all of you that this is not acceptable behavior.

Any person urinating in public can be subject to arrest.
